Konnevesi Rapids (Konneveden Kosket) is part of the Rautalampi waterway, one of Southern Finland’s most important wild lake trout breeding areas. The route includes seven rapids: Siikakoski, Taikinainen, Karinkoski, Kellankoski, Yläinen, Keskisenkoski, and Hannulankoski. Siikakoski, the starting point, is renowned for its clear waters and has been favored by notable figures such as President Urho Kekkonen and U.S. President Jimmy Carter. This area is often referred to as a paradise for fly fishermen.
The rapids are known for their clear waters and diverse fish populations, including large wild brown trout, making them a sought-after destination for anglers. The area is also adjacent to the Southern Konnevesi National Park, offering visitors a chance to experience Finland’s natural beauty.
Troutland Finland: Guided Fishing Experiences
Konneveden Kosket, known also as Troutland Finland, offers guided fly fishing packages in the Konnevesi region, providing anglers with access to over 10 km of excellent private brown trout waters. The area is known for its large wild brown trout, with some reaching sizes up to 80 cm. Fishing seasons typically start in May, with opportunities to catch trout using various techniques, including streamer and dry fly fishing.
In addition to trout, the region offers exceptional pike fishing year-round, with large pike thriving in the clear, flowing waters. Professional guides ensure a safe and rewarding fishing experience for all skill levels.
